NEW ZEALAND - SOUTH ISLAND ITINERARY

Day 1     CHRISTCHURCH – MT COOK
You will start your photo tour by heading to beautiful Lake Tekapo and other scenic lakes before travelling south along the coast before heading inland to Mt Hutt down into the heart of the Southern Alps arriving at New Zealand,s highest mountain Mt Cook.

Day 2     MT COOK – OMARAMA
As the sunrises Mt Cook shows a different personalty which we will capture before heading off to Lake Pukaki to be captivated by her vivid turquoise coloured waters and beautiful Lake Benmore before making our way to Omarama.

Day 3     OMARAMA – DUNEDIN
Leaving Omarama behind us we set off east again to the coast to explore the various angles possible to shoot the amazing Moeraki Bolders before travelling a little south to Dunedin. On the Otago Peninsula is Dunedin, a city full of character and charm. It is known as New Zealands little Scotland. The peninsula offers numerous coastal photo opportunities to explore.

Day 4     DUNEDIN – MILFORD SOUND
Today we travel west on our way to the Milford Sounds. The drive to the fiords is breathtaking with abundant lakes fringed by lush green forests, glacial valleys and spectacular grand mountain views. Everything in this part of New Zealand is dramatic and awe-inspiring.

Day 5     MILFORD SOUND – QUEENSTOWN
At sunrise we will photograph Mitre Peak before cruising along the fiord and out to the Tasman Sea for our boat journey where you will experience nature at its best. Surrounded by vast mountains, dramatic waterfalls and untouched shorelines provide us with an endless supply of photographic subjects. We make our way back to Queenstown stopping off in various locations in the Fiorland National Park.

Day 6     QUEENSTOWN
Lord Of The Rings films were famously shot in New Zealand and as we travel around this region this morning you will no doubt recognise many locations. At the northern tip of Lake Wakatipu we will capture the sun rising in Glenorchy. For more impressive photography opportunities we will make our way over to Mt Aspiring National Park to capture remote countryside scenes, fresh water streams and magnificient mountain ranges. Late afternoon will be free time for you to enduldge in any of the adrenaline pumping activities available in Queenstown at your own leisure or simply soak up the magically vibe on the waterfront that Queenstown offers.

Day 7     QUEENSTOWN – HAAST
We will leave Queenstown this morning travelling west along the mountain base of Lake Wanaka and Hawea making our way through the lush green Haast Pass on the wild West Coast before settling in for the night.

Day 8     HAAST – HOKITIKA
We will depart Haast Pass on the West Coast heading north towards Franz Josef where we will capture interesting ice formations on the Franz Josef Glacier.

Day 9     HOKITIKA – ST ARNAUD
Heading north from Hokitika we will visit Punakiki which is renowned for amazing rock formations that have been created by the sheer force of the wild ocean on the West Coast – The Pancake Rocks. We will then travel from the West Coast over to the East Coast of the South Island. On our way we will stop off at a secluded lake coccooned by mountains for an evening shot before arriving at St Arnaud.

Day 10    ST ARNAUD – KAIKOURA
Once we leave St Arnaud we will experience the amazing Marlborough Sounds. After a short drive south down the coastline we will arrive in a little coastal town Kaikoura. With mountains in the background and the ocean at its doorstep, whale watching, marine mammals and seabirds are abundant here. The afternoon is free for you to explore this coastal town before meeting up for an evening sunset shot of the coastline and hopefully its friendly seals.

Day 11    KAIKOURA
This morning we will capture the stunning snow capped mountain range that overlooks Kaikoura. Later in the day we will take photographs of Dusky Dolphins while enjoying a chartered cruise. This is very popular as the dolphins seem to be natural performers providing numerous photo opportunities for us.

Day 12    KAIKOURA – CHRISTCHURCH
Today we will leave Kaikoura heading down the coast to Christchurch where you will be departing our photo tour group and preparing for your journey home. There will be time for you to say your final farewells to the group. “TOUR-IN-TANDEM”
Depending on numbers partners and family are welcome to come and enjoy the sights and atmosphere of New Zealand while the photo tour group are out shooting, then rendezvous back at the hotel at night. Guided sightseeing tour of New Zealand or specific themes such as a gastro or adrenaline tours can be arranged for partners if required.
