OVERVIEW
Our long weekend photo tour to Amsterdam will allow you to shoot this city of contrasts, it is tranquil and laid back in its coffee shops, yet has a hum and hustle in the markets and a vibrant night life. The old masters and museums seem to merge seamlessly with the hot Jordaan boutiques and buzzing bars while the imposing and solemn churches don’t seen to notice the brazen red light district. After Amsterdam there is a half day excursion to Brugge on the return Journey.
Amsterdam has more canals than Venice, fringed with cyclists and overhung by trees, these are crisscrossed by lazy curved bridges gripped by the many bicycles used to travel around this compact city. We’ll take a boat trip through the maze of the old city’s 17th century canals to capture the romance of it’s many waterways.
David Still your tutor, will take you to the Singel floating flower market, maybe shooting details of the colourful wares, snapping people buying flowers or finding a bargain at a busy flea market. We can buy lunch at the Noordermarkt farmers’ market, just down the canal from Anne Franks House and the Westerkerk Church.
We will show you how to shoot images of Amsterdams gothic architecture, down the rows of tall houses on it’s tree lined streets and after nightfall we will shoot the lights reflecting in the serene canals from the city’s buidlings and illuminated bridges.
Your tutor David Still will be staying you on the shores of IJsselmeer, just out of Amsterdam where we can be up for a sunrise shoot through the masts of the yachts moored at the jetties of the adjoining marina or along the boat-lined wharves of the old harbour.
We’ll leave Amsterdam and make our way home stopping at Brugge for lunch and to spend the rest of the day shooting it’s stunning romanesque and gothic architecture, all of which can be found simply by strolling it’s narrow cobbled streets. This medievil city has an atmosphere of it’s own, the whitewashed almshouses the renaissance facades, meandering canals and picturesque markets. Grab some chocolate before you leave…
Partners and family are welcome to come and enjoy the sights and atmosphere of Holland & Belgium while the photo tour group are out shooting, then rendezvous back at the hotel at night. Guided sightseeing tour of Holland & Belgium for partners if required. Non workshop participants “TOUR-IN-TANDEM” will be charged a lower fee.
