EGYPT PHOTO TOUR OVERVIEW
Luxor ia a captivating place, The Nile runs through the centre, creating the West Bank (Thebes) and East Bank. It is home to the biggest and best preserved temples in the land. The West Bank is the most famous area of Luxor, limestone valleys bristling with temples, tombs and gigantic ruins. The Valley of the Kings alone accommodates the Pharaohs tombs, the most famous being Tutankhamun and Ramses II. The West Bank is also home to the temple of the most famous female Egyptian Pharaoh, Hatshepsut’s Temple at Deir el Bahri and the statues of the Colossi of Memnon which stand at a massive 60ft high, all will make fabulous photos.
Luxor’s East Bank is a bustling market town offering numerous shops and cafes, local produce market, fishermen, felucca sailboats plying The River Nile and moored along its banks. Also on this side of the Nile is Luxor Temple and the Temple of Karnak, a massive complex built over a period of 1300 years during the reign of 30 Pharaohs, it is approx 1 mile by 2 miles in area. There are over 25 temples, the Sacred Lake, murals and The Hypostyle hall of pillars (134 pillars up to 70 ft tall) it’s one of the world’s greatest architectural achievements, impressive is an understatement.
One morning we will be up before dawn to take a hot air balloon flight across Luxor and the desert (included in the tour) capturing aerial shots of the land below us as we glide silently over the terrain while the suns warm rays light the land in long orange shafts.
With the help of our contacts there, we will be arranging to shoot a camel train in a desert with some time with the camels and handlers for some great shots.
Our group will also be flying to Cairo (optional extra) where our contacts will be facilitating our arrival and transportation. Our guide will pick us up and drive us in an air-conditioned vehicle to shoot the Pyramids in Giza, making our time there stress-free.
I will also be arranging a portrait photography workshop, engaging some local people as models to capture the true essence of Egypt.
We are endeavouring to arrange another location shoot to recreate the ‘feel’ of Egypt in the mid-1900′s. Think black & white photography, old car in the desert, period props (The English Patient) giving you the unique opportunity to experience a shoot that ordinarily no-one else would get the chance to do.
A day trip to the Red Sea is in order, to shoot the deserts on the way, then the coast, reefs, wrecks and try out the water – if you want to bring an underwater housing or disposable waterproof camera, feel free… It promises to be a great photography course exploring land and water.
