SUMMER – MIDNIGHT SUN PRO ADVENTURE PHOTO TOUR
ABISKO – BJORKLIDEN – 5 DAY
WHAT IS THE MIDNIGHT SUN?
The Midnight Sun only occurs over the Summer time in the Arctic Circle, Europe. It is a constant 24 hour period of sunlight. This is a unique experience, where day and night merge seemlessly in to one creating quite mystical landscapes. This phenomenon occurs in the Arctic Circle between the end of May until about mid July.
This 24 hour light will alter your sleeping patterns but it is an experience that is well worth it. You will be able to take amazing photos that you will treasure for a lifetime under the 1-on-1 guidance from professional photographer David Still.
This 5 day Abisko Bjorkliden Midnight Sun Pro Adventure Photo Tour will begin the moment your plane touches down in the Arctic Circle.
Once you have settled into your accommodation, we will meet as a group to discuss the upcoming adventures of your photo tour and guidance on the best possible techniques to use to achieve great images captured on the tour and offer solutions to editing and post production of your photos once you are home.
In the evening we will set out to capture the incredible phenomenon of the Summer Solstice (Midnight Sun) as it’s golden glow reflects perfectly in the mirror like lake.
During the Summer Solstice, the Lapland landscape transforms into a feast of golden hues as the suns glow escapes from behind the snow capped mountains.
Following a chairlift ride to a mountain peak we will enjoy our day taking a gentle picturesque wander along a scenic trail to Bjorkliden. We may be fortunate enough to see some reindeer, foxes and ptarmigan in their natural environment and capture some wildlife photos. The halfway point will be at a traditional Sami hut where we will enjoy a barbeque surrounded by alpine flowers and lichen a bonus for macro photography lovers. The twilight hours will be perfect to photograph the Midnight Sun in the wilderness.
Off the tourist trail we will venture through a special location that looks like a moonscape with amazing rock formations that are enhanced by the rays of golden light. For our refreshment break we will be nestled beside the 32m deep fresh water Magic Lake. With the bottom clearly visible, it is known to be the cleanest lake in Europe so you are free to take a dip in the pure alpine water.
For a truly unique experience, sitting on a reindeer skin around an open fire toasting marshmallows under the Midnight Sun skies, is a memory that you will treasure for a lifetime.
You will return home from your Arctic Circle experience on our 5 day Abisko Bjorkliden Midnight Sun Pro Adventure Photo Tour with photos and memories that will last a lifetime.
